Corn Exchange

Built in 1853 as a trading hall for the Hertfordshire grain trade, the Corn Exchange is the largest single building on Hitchin's Market Place — Italianate in style, with a tall four-storey clock tower, an arcaded ground floor and a pediment lettered CORN EXCHANGE 1853. It survived the wars and the long decline of provincial agriculture and was restored in the 2000s.

The interior now houses a chain restaurant and event spaces; the exterior remains the visual anchor of the market square. Worth a couple of photographs but not really visitable inside.
