Things to Do

Basingstoke is not packed with grand sights, but it has a handful of quirky spots that reward a wander. The Willis Museum tells the town's story, while the Milestones Museum on the edge of town recreates Hampshire streets from the Victorian era and the 1930s. Add a few oddities (a 1898 wedding cake, a Hawker Hunter jet on a roundabout, Jane Austen in bronze) and a Tudor mansion in the countryside, and you have a half-day's worth of curiosity.
