A museum on the Southsea seafront dedicated to the Normandy landings of 6 June 1944 — Portsmouth was one of the main embarkation ports for Operation Overlord. The centrepiece is the Overlord Embroidery, a vast 83-metre modern tapestry (consciously modelled on the Bayeux Tapestry) narrating the D-Day operation. The museum also holds a working LCT Mk4 landing craft from the invasion fleet.
