Winchester is very well connected to London. Direct trains from London Waterloo run frequently throughout the day and take about an hour. The station is about ten minutes' walk from the city centre and the cathedral.
By car, Winchester is just off junction 9 or 10 of the M3 motorway, about 65 miles southwest of London. Parking in the city centre is limited and can be expensive; most visitors arriving by car use the park-and-ride services on the main approaches. Southampton Airport is about 15 miles to the south and has connections to various European cities.
