Mazati occupies a romantically lit basement arch off Bristol's busy Corn Street. Most evenings find its tables alive with chatty young couples, business people and families. The name translates as 'my mezze' in Lebanese, and there are plenty on the impressive menu. Best sellers include the familiar hummus and tabbouleh alongside less familiar dishes for the adventurous. Choice is wide, ranging from sharing platters and colourful national dishes to chef's specials such as farrouj meshwi (marinated boneless chicken, charcoal grilled with garlic sauce) and lahm meshwi (charcoal grilled lamb cubes). The Lebanese pizzas make a satisfying change from the usual. 13A Small Street, Bristol BS1 1DE. Tel: 0117 927 7937.
