St Nicholas Priory is one of Exeter's most atmospheric survivals: a medieval religious house that became a Tudor town house after the Dissolution. Its rooms, timber, stonework, and domestic details give a more intimate view of the city than the cathedral or Roman walls.
Opening times can be limited, so check before making a special trip. If it is open, the priory is an excellent stop on a walk through Exeter's older streets, especially for travellers interested in how religious buildings were reused after the Reformation.
