Minehead has no mainline railway station and no airport. By road, the A39 from Bridgwater is the only sensible approach; the drive from Taunton or Bridgwater takes around 45 minutes. From Bristol allow about two hours, from London four to five.
By bus, the 28 service from Taunton railway station runs hourly via Bishops Lydeard and Williton, taking about ninety minutes. The cheapest and most enjoyable approach is to ride the National Rail to Taunton, catch the 28 to Bishops Lydeard, and finish the journey on the West Somerset Heritage Railway into Minehead.
