Minehead

Somerset seaside town at Exmoor's edge and the start of the South West Coast Path.

Minehead is a small seaside town on the north Somerset coast, sitting at the edge of Exmoor National Park. It is the starting point of the South West Coast Path, England's longest waymarked trail, which runs 630 miles to Poole in Dorset. The town has a pleasant harbour, a long sandy beach and the charming old village of Higher Town climbing the hillside behind, crowned by the medieval Church of St Michael.

Minehead is also the terminus of the West Somerset Railway, the longest steam-operated heritage line in England, which runs inland to Dunster and on through the Quantock foothills towards Taunton.
