Newquay Harbour

Newquay Harbour is the small working fishing harbour at the foot of the cliffs below the town centre, with stone quays built by the Victorian mining tycoon Richard Lomax. A handful of crab boats still land their catch each morning, and the harbour pub serves it for lunch a couple of hours later.

The atmosphere is quiet and old-fashioned, a sharp contrast to the surf town a few hundred yards above. The little beach inside the harbour wall is sheltered at almost any tide. Boat trips from the harbour run out to look at the seals on the Gannel and the seabirds along the cliffs.
