Lulworth Castle is a 17th-century hunting lodge built to entertain aristocracy and royalty on the Lulworth Estate. A fire gutted it in 1929, but the shell was restored in the 1990s, leaving a dramatic castle visit rather than a furnished stately home.
It makes sense as part of a Lulworth day with the cove and the Jurassic Coast. The setting is half the appeal, with estate grounds around the restored tower.
