Dartmouth Park

Dartmouth Park is the main Victorian public park of West Bromwich, laid out in the late 19th century and named after the Earl of Dartmouth, whose family owned much of the surrounding land. The park retains its original layout with formal gardens, a bandstand, and mature trees, and it serves as the main green space for the town centre.

The park contains a small boating lake, a café, and sports facilities including tennis courts and a bowling green. It is a workable respite from the surrounding urban landscape, particularly on summer weekday mornings when it is quiet. The adjacent Dartmouth Hall, a surviving fragment of the former Dartmouth estate, gives some sense of the aristocratic landholding that once dominated the area before the coal and iron industries transformed everything around it.
