The centre of Hebden Bridge is compact, but the surrounding walks climb fast. Wear proper shoes if you are heading up to Heptonstall, Wadsworth, or the moorland edges.
Buses connect the valley towns and climb to some hill villages, but walking is the pleasure here. The canal towpath is the easiest low-level route; hillside paths are prettier and muddier.
