Eating out

Pontefract is a working Yorkshire market town rather than a food destination. The options are pub lunches, market-area cafes, and a handful of independent spots in the town centre. Nothing here is destination-worthy in its own right, but the food is solid and unpretentious, and the market-day atmosphere on Wednesdays and Saturdays makes the cafes around the Cornmarket a good place to stop mid-morning.
