Barden Tower

A ruined medieval hunting lodge in Wharfedale, often paired with Bolton Abbey walks

Barden Tower is a ruined fortified hunting lodge in Wharfedale, a little beyond Skipton and close to the Bolton Abbey estate. Its broken walls sit in a landscape of river walks, fields, and wooded slopes, which is why the place works so well as a walking stop.

Do not come expecting a furnished castle. Come for the combination of medieval remains and Yorkshire Dales scenery, preferably as part of a longer route along the Wharfe.
