Skipton has a good number of pubs along the High Street and in the streets around the canal, several of which occupy historic buildings. The Red Lion and the Black Horse on the High Street are the traditional anchors; the canal-side pubs are more pleasant in good weather when you can sit outside. For cafes, the independent options along the Shambles and the side streets are more interesting than the chains on the main street.
