Todmorden is on the Calder Valley railway line, with regular direct trains to Leeds (about 40 minutes) and Manchester Victoria (about 35 minutes). This is one of the most scenic trans-Pennine rail routes in England, running through steep wooded valleys. The station is in the town centre, a short walk from the town hall and market.
By car, the A646 runs through the Calder Valley and connects Todmorden to Halifax (18 miles east) and Burnley (10 miles west). The M62 motorway, the high trans-Pennine route, is about 15 minutes south, and gives quick access to both Leeds and Manchester. Parking in the town centre is straightforward and mostly free on side streets.
Buses connect the town to Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Rochdale, and Burnley. The bus station is central. For walkers, the Pennine Way passes through the area and can be joined from the town by following the canal towpath toward Mankinholes.
