Armagh's city centre is small and entirely walkable — the two cathedrals, the Mall, the observatory, and the county museum are all within 15 minutes on foot of each other. Navan Fort, the most important site outside the city itself, is about two miles west of the centre and accessible by local bus or a pleasant walk through apple orchard country.
A car is useful for exploring the wider county, which has attractive countryside, apple orchards, and the ancient stone circles and earthworks scattered across South Armagh. Taxis are available from the city centre.
