Getting Around

The city centre is compact and walkable. Most of the main sights — City Hall, the Crown, the Cathedral Quarter, St George's Market — are within easy walking distance of each other. The Titanic Quarter is about 2 kilometres from the city centre and easily reached on foot along the waterfront, or by taxi.

Belfast has a good bus network (operated by Translink), and the Glider rapid transit lines provide frequent bus services on the main corridors. Black taxis (shared route taxis) are a traditional feature of the city, particularly on the Falls and Shankill roads. Cycling is possible but the city is not especially cycle-friendly. For day trips to the Giant's Causeway and the Antrim coast, a car is the most practical option — the roads are good and the journey is part of the pleasure.
