The Lyric Theatre is Belfast's main producing theatre and one of the best places in the city to catch contemporary drama, new Irish writing, and touring productions. Its modern building sits by the River Lagan near Queen's University, a short walk from the Botanic area.
Even if you are not planning a full theatre night, it is worth checking the programme while in town. Belfast has a strong literary and performance culture, and the Lyric is where much of that energy reaches the stage rather than the pub or festival tent.
