Titanic Quarter

The Titanic Quarter is Belfast's most ambitious regeneration project, built on the 185-acre site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard where the Titanic, the Britannic, and the Olympic — the three great White Star liners — were constructed. The shipyard closed in 2003; within a decade, the docks had been transformed into a cultural and residential district.

The quarter's centrepiece is the Titanic Belfast museum, but the surrounding area rewards exploration: the dry dock where the Titanic was fitted out, the SS Nomadic preserved in the Hamilton Dock, the drawing offices of the shipyard (now a hotel), and the two great yellow cranes — Samson and Goliath — that still dominate the Belfast skyline. The pump house next to the dry dock tells the story of the shipyard itself. The waterfront walk from the quarter back to the city centre is one of the best views in Belfast.
