Gaiety Theatre

The Gaiety Theatre is the main performing arts venue in Ayr, a Category B listed building on Carrick Street that opened in 1902. The auditorium retains its Edwardian character — plush seating, ornate plasterwork, and a traditional proscenium stage — and the theatre hosts a year-round programme of touring productions, pantomime, concerts, and comedy nights.

The Gaiety has a particular place in Scottish theatrical history as a home of traditional variety entertainment and, in recent decades, one of the stronger provincial repertory venues in the country. The pantomime season, which runs from late November through January, is a long-standing Ayrshire tradition. Check the programme before visiting.
