Fife Ness

Eastern tip of Fife, with rocky coast, sea views, and good birdwatching.

Fife Ness is the eastern point of the Fife peninsula, a rocky coastal area northeast of Crail. It is a good walking target from the village if you want open sea views and a wilder edge to the East Neuk.

Birdwatchers know the area well, and even casual walkers will notice the shift in mood from village harbour to exposed headland. Take windproof clothing; the North Sea is rarely gentle here.

A story
Fife Ness is where the Firth of Forth gives way toward the North Sea. That exposed position made it important for navigation and dangerous for shipping, but for walkers it mostly means wind, birds, rocks, and big horizons.
