Getting There

Greenock is well served by rail. The Inverclyde Line runs frequent trains from Glasgow Central directly to Greenock Central (30-40 minutes) and Greenock West, continuing to Gourock. Services run roughly every half hour throughout the day. The journey is pleasant, following the south bank of the Clyde with good views of the river widening towards the Firth.

By car, Greenock is about 40 minutes from Glasgow city centre via the M8 and A8. Parking in the town centre is straightforward.

For the Cowal Peninsula and Dunoon, take the ferry from Gourock, immediately west of Greenock. Western Ferries and CalMac both operate this crossing; it takes about 20 minutes. The ferry for Bute sails from Wemyss Bay, a short train ride further west.
