The beach at the mouth of the Deveron river emerges at low tide and is a pleasant short walk from the centre of town. East of Tarlair pool there is a more secluded strip, accessible only by scrambling up and over the hill around the 13th hole of the golf course. For something easier, the long sweep of Banff Links is about two miles west across the bridge.
