Oban punches well above its size for food quality, driven almost entirely by the excellence of its seafood. The fish and shellfish coming off the Oban boats are among the best in Scotland, and the town's restaurants take full advantage. Beyond seafood, the area is good for Highland beef and lamb; the local butchers on the high street sell notably good meat.
