Getting There

Oban is three hours from Glasgow by road (A82 along Loch Lomond, then A85 through Crianlarich) and about the same by train. ScotRail runs direct services from Glasgow Queen Street several times a day — the train journey through Crianlarich and along Glen Lochy is one of the most scenic rail routes in Britain. There is no airport at Oban; the nearest airports are Glasgow International and Inverness.

From Fort William, Oban is about 50 minutes by road on the A828 via Ballachulish and Connel. From Edinburgh, the most direct route goes via Glasgow, adding about an hour to the Glasgow journey time. Long-distance coach services (CityLink) run from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
