Rerwick Head is a low-key coastal escape from Kirkwall, more useful for walkers and birdwatchers than for anyone chasing a named monument. The headland gives you open sea, rough grass, wind, and the kind of long views that explain why Orkney rewards slow, weather-aware wandering.
There is little formal infrastructure, so treat it as a short countryside outing rather than a managed attraction. Wear proper shoes, keep away from cliff edges in strong wind, and do not count on shelter if the weather turns.
