The Llandudno Cable Car is the longest passenger cable car in Britain — a mile-long gondola that lifts passengers from the Happy Valley gardens above the North Shore Promenade to the summit of the Great Orme. It opened in 1969 and uses the original cars and machinery, with major refurbishment in the 2010s. The lower station is reached by a steep path up from the seafront, or by chair-lift from the same Happy Valley site.
The four-seat cabins offer the best aerial views of Llandudno and its bay — from the summit you can see the whole crescent of the town with the pier projecting from the headland. The ride takes about 10 minutes each way. It operates from late March to October and is weather-dependent; high winds close the system. The lower station is opposite the entrance to the Happy Valley gardens.
