Llandudno is a year-round destination, but the experience varies considerably by season. Summer (June to August) is the peak, when the town fills with families and the tramway, cable car, and pier are all busy. The promenade is lively, the North Shore beach is in full use, and the Great Orme's viewpoint is at its most rewarding on a clear July or August day. Accommodation books up well in advance for summer weekends.
Spring and autumn are underrated. From April to June the town has enough visitors to feel alive but not overwhelming, the Great Orme's wildflowers are at their best in May and June, and the light on the bay is often stunning. September is a fine month — quieter, but still warm enough to sit on the beach. From November through February the resort quietens considerably, though the pier and Great Orme remain accessible and the town's Victorian architecture is arguably most atmospheric in the low season.
The main event in the town's calendar is the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, held in early May, when the streets fill with period costumes, steam engines, and entertainers in a celebration of the town's nineteenth-century character.
