Shopping

Swansea's shopping is concentrated in the city centre. The undercover Quadrant Shopping Centre and the adjacent St David's Shopping Centre between them carry most of the high-street chains. The historic Swansea Market inside the Quadrant is the place to buy laverbread, Penclawdd cockles and Welsh cakes from independent stallholders — a genuinely good market by UK standards.

For independents, Wind Street and the High Street have a scatter of vintage shops, record stores and small galleries. The Mumbles village to the west, along the bayfront tram-and-bus route, has more boutique and gift shops than the centre and is a pleasant browse on a fine afternoon.
