Dylan Thomas Birthplace

5 Cwmdonkin Drive, a steep-stepped Edwardian semi-detached house in the Uplands, is where Dylan Thomas was born in October 1914 and lived until he was twenty-three. The house has been restored to its 1914 appearance and is open for tours, overnight stays and Thomas-themed dinners.

The setting is as important as the building: from the front step you look down over the rooftops of Uplands toward Swansea Bay, and Cwmdonkin Park — the park of his poem — is two minutes' walk uphill. Booking ahead is essential as the tours run in small groups.
