Southampton's south shore has the finest beaches in Bermuda. The pink sand is Bermuda's signature — formed from crushed coral and shell — and the water along this coast is calm, clear, and turquoise. Horseshoe Bay is the headline act, but the coves either side of it are worth the walk. Church Bay, further west, is quieter and better for snorkelling.
The beaches are most crowded from May to September. Outside those months the water is still swimmable — Bermuda rarely gets cold — but facilities shut down and the beaches are mostly empty.
