A rented moped is the standard way to cover Southampton. The parish runs in a long strip along South Shore Road, which connects the main beaches and the lighthouse, and the distances are short enough that a single tank lasts all day. Moped rental is available at the main resort hotels and at various outlets along Middle Road.
The public bus network covers the south shore: route 7 from Hamilton runs along South Shore Road past Horseshoe Bay to Barnes Corner. Route 8 from Hamilton takes the Middle Road. Both operate regularly from early morning. The ferry from Hamilton to Rockaway in Sandy's passes through the Great Sound and is a pleasant alternative for the western end of the parish.
Cars cannot be rented by visitors in Bermuda, making mopeds and buses the main options. Taxis are available but expensive over longer distances.
