When to Go

Bermuda's best season runs from May to October. Summer (June to August) is warm and humid, with sea temperatures around 28°C and consistent sunshine. This is beach season proper, when Horseshoe Bay is at its busiest and all beach facilities are operating.

Cup Match is the highlight of the local calendar: a two-day public holiday in late July or August built around a cricket match between the east and west parishes. At Horseshoe Bay, the occasion turns into a beach party, with families camping overnight and a festive atmosphere that's uniquely Bermudian.

Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) are the shoulder seasons — fewer visitors, lower prices, pleasant temperatures, and all the major sights and restaurants still open. The south shore beaches are still swimmable.

Winter (November to March) is mild by Atlantic standards — rarely below 15°C — but the wind picks up and the beaches are mostly deserted. It's a good time for the Bermuda Railway Trail and the lighthouse, and accommodation prices drop significantly.

Hurricane season runs from June through November, with the peak risk in September. Bermuda gets brushed by storms most years but direct hits are infrequent; it's worth checking forecasts during this period.
