Horseshoe Bay Beach

Bermuda's most celebrated beach: a wide crescent of pink sand framed by red rock outcrops, with lifeguards posted in season and rentals for snorkelling gear, paddleboards, and beach chairs. The water is clear and turquoise, sheltered enough for children, and the bay's famous pink colour deepens as the sun drops. A signed clifftop trail runs east from the main beach linking a series of smaller coves — Baby Beach, Port Royal Cove — that offer more seclusion but no facilities. The car park fills early on summer weekends; arriving by moped or bus keeps things simpler.

A story
The beach takes its name from its horseshoe shape — a long arc of pink sand formed by the coral that breaks down into the fine rose-coloured grains distinctive of Bermuda's south shore. On Cup Match weekend (a two-day public holiday in late July or August), Bermudian families set up tents along the beach and the whole bay becomes an open-air festival.
