Coquitlam Centre is one of the larger enclosed shopping malls in the Vancouver area, with about 200 stores spread over two levels. It opened in 1979 and has been expanded and renovated several times — most significantly in 2007 with the addition of the food court and the western wing. The anchor stores are Hudson's Bay, Walmart and a multi-screen cinema; the rest of the mix is national-chain fashion and electronics retail, with a good representation of Canadian brands (Roots, Aritzia, Lululemon).
The mall is on the southern edge of the Coquitlam Town Centre district, three minutes' walk from Coquitlam Central SkyTrain station. There are several restaurants in and around the mall, including a substantial food court. Free parking.
It is not a destination in its own right — most Vancouver visitors will find more interesting shopping in Robson Street, Granville Island or Steveston — but it is useful as a rainy-day fallback for anyone staying in the Tri-Cities area.
