Fort Berens Winery is one of the easier places in Lillooet to understand why this dry, bright stretch of the Fraser Canyon has become interesting wine country. The tasting room looks over vines and sagebrush hills rather than manicured resort scenery, which is part of its appeal: it feels tied to the heat, wind, and river terraces around town.
Come for a tasting flight, a bottle to take on the road, or a relaxed lunch when the kitchen is running. It works best as a short, civilized stop between canyon drives and local history rather than as a full-day attraction.
