Seton Lake is a narrow, deep glacial lake west of Lillooet, squeezed between dramatic mountains that drop almost directly to the water. The lake is connected to the Fraser River by the short Seton River, and a hydroelectric project has added a canal alongside it. For visitors, it's one of the most beautiful spots near town — the turquoise water, the mountain walls, and the dry benchland landscape combine in a way that's distinctly unlike any other lake in BC.
The road along the south shore gives access to the lake and to beaches where you can swim in summer — the water is cold but not as brutal as coastal lakes. There's also good fishing for rainbow trout. The Seton Portage area at the west end of the lake connects to Anderson Lake, and the whole valley was once part of the route prospectors used to reach the goldfields.
