Cape Scott Provincial Park is the far-north island reward: empty beaches, wet forest, old settler traces, and a sense that the road has finally run out. It takes effort to reach, but the payoff is solitude that the south island rarely offers.
Expect mud, rain, rough camping, and long drives. San Josef Bay is the friendliest objective; the full Cape Scott trail is for hikers who like their coast wild.
