Things to Do

Vancouver Island is strongest outdoors: surf on the west coast, old-growth forest in the middle, beaches and small harbours on the east, and mountain hikes almost everywhere. The island also has a strong museum and garden tradition around Victoria.

Start with the island's big contrasts: Butchart Gardens and the Royal BC Museum are polished and accessible, while Cape Scott Provincial Park, the West Coast Trail, and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve are wilder commitments.
