The Ross Memorial Museum occupies a fine early 19th-century house in the heart of the Saint Andrews historic district, donated to the town along with its entire contents by Henry Phipps Ross and his wife Sarah. The collection — assembled over decades of travel and collecting — covers decorative arts, furniture, paintings, and personal effects from the 18th and 19th centuries.
It is a small but carefully presented museum, the kind that rewards slow looking rather than hurried scanning. The house itself, with its original furniture and accumulated objects, gives an unusually good sense of how the prosperous Loyalist gentry lived in their prime.
