Husky the Muskie

40-foot fibreglass fish at McLeod Park

Husky the Muskie is a 40-foot-tall fibreglass statue of a muskellunge in McLeod Park on Kenora's harbour. Built in 1967 as a Centennial project, it has become the town's most-photographed landmark and the obligatory stop on a drive through Kenora. The park around the statue has picnic tables, a playground, and views over the lake.

Free, open at all times. Park beside the statue or walk from the downtown core. Five minutes is all the visit needs, but it is genuinely hard to leave Kenora without a photo.

A story
Husky was unveiled in 1967 as Kenora's Canadian Centennial project. The muskellunge — a large freshwater predator famous in Lake of the Woods — was chosen to represent the local fishing tradition, and the statue has been the town's photo backdrop and unofficial mascot ever since.
