Old Oakville

Old Oakville is the historic core of the town, centred on the Oakville Harbour and the stretch of Lakeshore Road East between Sixteen Mile Creek and the lakefront parks. The streets here are lined with 19th-century commercial buildings, Victorian houses, and a handful of heritage landmarks including the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate and Knox Presbyterian Church.

The waterfront around the marina is the social heart of the district in summer — sailboats fill the slips, restaurants put out their patios, and the trail along the lake gets busy with cyclists and walkers. Lakeshore Road East is the main commercial strip: a mix of independent restaurants, boutique shops, and a few wine bars that keeps the street lively most evenings.
