Oakville Waterfront Trail

The Oakville Waterfront Trail runs along Lake Ontario for several kilometres, connecting the Old Oakville harbour area westward past Coronation Park and eventually to Bronte Harbour. It is a paved multi-use path suitable for walking, cycling, and inline skating, with continuous views across the lake to the south.

The most attractive section is the stretch through Old Oakville, where the path passes the harbour mouth, the Oakville Museum grounds, and a sequence of lakefront parks. On a clear day you can see the Toronto skyline and, in the opposite direction, the Niagara Escarpment. The full Waterfront Trail in this section connects into a much larger regional network that runs the entire length of Lake Ontario's north shore.

A story
The trail passes through Coronation Park, the venue for the Oakville Waterfront Festival, where in the late 1960s the town planted a long double row of copper beeches to mark Confederation's centennial. Those trees are now mature and create an impressive canopy along the lakeside path in summer.
