Katherine Cove is a sheltered sandy beach in Lake Superior Provincial Park, with picnic space, vault toilets, and cold clear water framed by forest and rock. It is a good place to stop on the drive through the park, especially if you want a gentler shoreline than the wilder pebble beaches nearby.
Look for Bathtub Island just offshore, named for the natural pool carved into its rock. Conditions on Lake Superior change quickly, so treat it as a scenic swim or picnic stop rather than a guaranteed warm beach day.
