Laurentian resort town north of Montréal, built around eastern Canada's best-known ski mountain.
Mont-Tremblant is the best ski resort in eastern Canada and one of the top ten in North America. It sits in the Laurentian Mountains about 140km north of Montréal, an easy two-hour drive. The resort has grown from a small ski village into a full year-round destination, with a pedestrian village at the base of the mountain that fills with visitors in both winter and summer.
The ski mountain has 102 trails, 14 lifts and a vertical drop of 645 metres. The north side is steeper and more challenging; the south side gets more sun and is better for beginners and intermediates. Snowfall is reliable — the Laurentians average about 350cm per year — and snowmaking covers the main runs. The ski season typically runs from late November to mid-April.
In summer, Mont-Tremblant transforms into a hiking, cycling and water sports destination. The mountain itself is climbable on foot or by gondola, and Lac Tremblant and the surrounding lakes offer kayaking, canoeing and swimming. The village hosts music festivals through the summer, including a popular blues and jazz festival in August. Mont-Tremblant National Park begins just north of the resort and offers exceptional canoeing and hiking in a far quieter setting. The historic Circuit Mont-Tremblant — a legendary road racing circuit that hosted early Canadian Grand Prix races — is worth a detour for motorsport enthusiasts.

Getting There
Mont-Tremblant is about 140 km north of Montréal — roughly 90 minutes to two hours by car on Highway 15 (Autoroute des Laurentides) north to Saint-Jérôme, then Highway 117. Parking at the resort is abundant but expensive in peak season.
There is no direct train service. In ski season, weekend bus services run from Montréal (Terminus Voyageur) operated by various companies; check schedules as they change seasonally. A shuttle service runs from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) throughout the year, which is more convenient than car rental if you're arriving by air. Taxis from the town of Mont-Tremblant to the resort cost around $20–30.

When to Go
Mont-Tremblant works year-round, though the two peak periods are ski season (December to mid-April) and summer (July–August). The ski season is the primary draw: the Laurentians receive an average of 350 cm of snow per year, and snowmaking covers the main trails. January and February typically have the best snow conditions but also the coldest temperatures (−20°C is not unusual). March can be excellent: warmer days, good snow, and slightly lower prices.
Summer is busy with families, hikers, and watersports enthusiasts. The festival calendar fills with events — a blues and jazz festival in August is the best-known. September and October bring spectacular autumn foliage and are arguably the most beautiful months, with smaller crowds and comfortable temperatures. The shoulder periods of May–June and November see the fewest visitors and the best accommodation deals.
