Costa Rica has several bungee jumping operations, most notably Tropical Bungee near the Colorado River bridge on the old highway between San José and the Pacific coast. You jump from a platform about 80 metres above a jungle gorge — the views alone are worth the trip. The sport arrived here in 1993 and has maintained a strong safety record, with all operators following international standards. Expect to pay considerably less than you would in the US or Europe, and the operators run multiple jumps daily so you rarely need to book far in advance. Popular with both young Ticos and visiting adrenaline seekers.
