Pavones sits at the bottom of the Golfo Dulce and has one of the longest left-hand waves in the world — a ride that on a good southern swell runs for minutes rather than seconds. Getting to the breaks, and to the waterfalls and snorkelling spots along the gulf, is done by panga.
This outfit runs those boats from the Río Claro landing: surf transfers, fishing, snorkelling and waterfall trips. The gulf is a tropical fjord and one of only four in the world, with resident dolphins and humpbacks in season.
