Golfito's restaurants are unfussy and lean on the sea: fresh fish, ceviches, plantains and rice from the surrounding farms. Banana Bay Marina has the most touristed sit-down restaurant; the cluster of sodas (cheap local diners) along the main street do casados (the Costa Rican lunch plate) under 5,000 colones. For something better, water-taxi over to Cacao or Zancudo where several small lodge restaurants serve fresh-caught seafood in informal terraces.
