The former United Fruit Headquarters is one of Puerto Limon's clearest surviving links to the banana era. Completed in 1904, the two-storey timber building used deep eaves, wide verandas, and roof ventilation to suit the Caribbean climate.
It later housed port and provincial offices and has been protected as historic heritage. Even if you only see it from the street, it helps explain how strongly the fruit trade shaped the city.
